By Tushar: 22-Nov-23 I’m sure Kerala is not an unknown place for you. God’s Own Country has always been in the limelight on the platform of tourism. Beaches, backwaters, hill stations, tea plantations, Ayurveda therapy, houseboat cruises and many more, have been an integral part of Kerala’s tourism. If you are a little tight on your budget as well as the length of holidays, a fascinating option for a wonderful break can encompass a wildlife experience at Periyar National Park and a jaw-dropping visual treat of Jatayu Earth’s Centre, just 150 km from the national park.
Jatayu Earth's Centre is a unique and innovative eco-tourism destination. Named after Jatayu, the mythical eagle from the Indian epic Ramayana, the site is home to the world's largest bird sculpture, measuring an impressive 200 feet in length, 150 feet in width, and 70 feet in height. The gigantic sculpture is the tantalizing result of the creation of Rajiv Anchal. He is an enormously talented film director, art director and sculptor, and it took him 10 whole years to complete this wonder, which spreads the message of women’s honour and safety. The sculpture is set against the backdrop of the stunning Jatayupara hills and is surrounded by lush greenery, offering visitors a breathtaking panoramic view. Apart from its artistic and cultural significance, Jatayu Earth's Centre provides various adventure and recreational activities, including rock climbing, rappelling, and zip-lining.
Jatayu Earth's Centre comprises four distinct hills, each offering a unique experience.
Jatayu Rock Hill- features the sculpture with a fascinating five-layered audiovisual museum. A mini 6D theatre provides insights into the sculpture, and cable cars offer a scenic ascent. Lord Rama Temple and a reservoir with a capacity of 1.5 million litres adorn the hill, showcasing the meticulous artistry of sculptor Rajiv Anchal.
Adventure Rock Hill- promises fun-filled activities, including paintball, rifle shooting, chimney climbing, and nature walks. With audiovisual museums complementing the adventure, this hill is a haven for those seeking excitement and entertainment.
Elephant Rock Hill- invites visitors to camp under the stars in the midst of the forest. Tents are provided for overnight stays, accompanied by live music, campfires, and romantic moonlight dinners. The hill also features sky cycling and a 250m-long zip line for added thrill.
